Riona 7 Days, as the title suggests, chronicles a 7 day trip to New York City with actress Riona Hazuki. Its a photo diary which captures a very specific and tender moment in time. The photos are gorgeous, and give us a glimpse into the city through the fresh eyes of two Japanese travelers, Riona and her photographer Tatsuo Watanabe. The photos are extremely reminiscent of the time, evoking a nostalgia for a more open, pre-9/11 New York. The photos become progressively more risque as the trip continues, and the tone of the book becomes subtly more stark, grittier, and incorporates collages of different photo mediums. The book has become harder to come by as of late, possibly coinciding with the rise in popularity of these kinds of photo books. The work is primarily in English, and although not always correct, it gives international readers a look into the thoughts and feelings of the duo as they traverse a New York that ceases to exist today. The book is in near immaculate condition, with only a slight depression to the top right front corner.
